Svava's Whim Tourney
How they work

The goal is to keep the tournament to an hour in length, if there are many fighters it will be single elimination, if there are few a double elimination could be used. Every bout will be heralded and the honors given to the crowd assembled. There will be many prizes awarded at the end of the tourney for things other than winning, these would be the whims.

There could also be a trivia tourney where fighters start with a dagger and for every trivia question the consort answers correctly the fighter may draw a token from a bag that will give them the chance for a new weapon.

There may be prizes for the most involved consort.

In an ideal world local artisans would make and present the prizes. Prizes should be simple. I am not suggesting master art works but simple gifts that can be used by the fighter or his lady/her lord. Examples: trim, a tunic, garb, an item specific to the theme of the event, jewelry, a belt, a basket of bruise ointments, etc.

In short the goal is to create a spectacle that is fun for both the fighters and the crowd assembled, improve the medieval feel of the event, to appreciate admirable acts other than winning on the field, and to above all have fun!
